QuickBooks ProAdvisor Certification.

QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification is free. Not free-with-an-asterisk: Intuit gives the account, the training, and the exam away, because certified bookkeepers bring Intuit customers. Course funnels rarely say this plainly, because a free credential shortens their sales story. This page says it, and then says the harder thing too: what the certification is worth, and what it is not.

What it is

ProAdvisor certification is Intuit's own training-and-exam path over QuickBooks Online, taken through a free QuickBooks Online Accountant account. It also brings practice access to the software, which solves the beginner's other quiet problem: you cannot get fluent in a tool you cannot touch. For a first client who already runs QuickBooks — most of them — the badge answers their first question before they ask it.

What it is not

It is not a license, because bookkeeping needs none. It is not proof you can reconcile a messy real account — the exam tests the software, not judgment under mess. And it is not a substitute for worked practice: take it after a practice set, when the software's screens map onto moves your hands already know. The AIPB Certified Bookkeeper credential sits at the other end of the road — two years, 3,000 hours — and belongs to a later chapter of a career, not the first one.

Where it sits in the plan

Third, in this site's order: skills, then practice, then the certification — then pricing, the letter, and the client hunt. The readiness checker scores it as one of nine items, weighted honestly: necessary-looking, genuinely useful, and entirely free. If a program charges you four figures to 'prepare' for a free exam, you now know what you are actually buying.

Put it to work. The free First-Client Readiness Checker computes your case from the same facts this page explains. All 13 guides live on the guides hub.

The working papers

The guides are the map. The Playbook is the paperwork: the scripts, the call sheet, the worksheets, and the letter template.

Included in the $49 First Clients Playbook

  • The discovery-call sheet: the twelve questions that scope a client in one call — months behind, accounts, mess factors, deadlines — and the lines that end a call that is going nowhere
  • The pricing worksheets from Chapter 13, expanded: cleanup quoting, three-package building, and the fee-floor worksheet, each with worked examples filled in from the published bands
